Autonomous photovoltaic systems
AUTONOMOUS PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS, also known as ‘ISLAND SYSTEMS’, are independent systems for the production of electricity. They are powered by solar radiation or by a generator connected to the system. Usually used in remote locations, where access to the electrical grid is impossible or the grid parameters are unsatisfactory (low voltage, frequent interruptions, high cost, etc.). Examples of such installations are villas, mountain huts or remote buildings, isolated irrigation pumps, emergency telephones, illuminated road signs, boats, caravans, etc. It is recommended that autonomous photovoltaic systems be combined with a gasoline or diesel generator to avoid shortage of electricity in bad weather conditions or a prolonged lack of solar radiation.
