Lithium batteries
A Storage battery is a device, which stores electricity through reversible chemical reaction or intercalation process. Until recently, the main type of batteries in photovoltaic systems were lead-acid, which used a chemical reaction between lead and sulphuric acid to store and release electric energy. Nowadays, the lithium-ion batteries, which use a reversible intercalation process for storing the energy, have almost completely replaced them. The reason for this is their lower weight and volume, greater depth of discharge, higher number of cycles (charge/discharge) and the presence of a management and communication system (BMS). The lithium-ion batteries that we offer in our photovoltaic systems have the following composition:
a) iron phosphate (LiFePO4): 3.20V per cell, 170Wh/kg energy density
b) nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (LiNiCoAlO2): 3.60V per cell, 250Wh/kg energy density
The battery consists of several cells connected in series and in parallel to achieve the desired voltage and capacity, to which a BMS (Battery Management System) control system is added.
VERSOLEY LTD is a distributor of high-quality energy storage batteries, manufactured by the German company BMZ, the Chinese TBB Power and the Dutch Victron Energy and Whisper Power.
Lithium-ion (LiFePO4) battery ES100 II manufactured by TBB Power has a voltage of 48V, a capacity of 105Ah, 90% DOD (Depth of Discharge) and can provide 6000 charge/discharge cycles. The management system allows for parallel connection of 32 batteries or a total capacity of 160kWh.
Lithium-ion (LiNiCoAlO2) battery ESS-Z manufactured by BMZ has a voltage of 48V, a capacity of 162Ah, 80% DOD (depth of discharge) and can provide 5000 charge/discharge cycles. The management system allows for parallel connection of up to 12 batteries or a total capacity of 100kWh. One of the advantages of this battery is the large discharge current – 250A.
The Victron LFP Smart 100Ah and WP Lithium 100Ah lithium-ion (LiFePO4) batteries have a voltage of 12V, a capacity of 100Ah, 80% DOD (Depth of Discharge) and can provide up to 2500 charge/discharge cycles. They allow parallel and series connection to achieve greater capacity and higher voltage. Access to the management system (BMS) is possible using an application that connects via Bluetooth to a mobile phone or tablet. They are used in caravans, campers, boats, portable electricity systems, etc.
